Beyond the scores

This grid reads business development software tools on tagged reviews and published plans. The sections below cover what the tools do, how their plans are priced and how they state quotas.

Contact data, CRM and customer service tools share this grid

The fourteen tools do not do the same job. Zeliq describes a revenue workspace with lead search, enrichment and outreach, and lists 450M+ contacts; Apollo lists 240M+ contacts with sequences and a dialer. Hunter is an email finder and verifier, Lead411 a B2B leads database with 20+ search filters, and RocketReach a contact database of 700M+ profiles and 60M+ companies. ZoomInfo is an AI go-to-market platform built on B2B data.

Others start from the deal record. Close is a CRM with calling, email, SMS and workflows, Affinity a CRM for private capital deal teams, and HighLevel combines a CRM with funnels and automation. Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and Monday sell sales software or a CRM. Zendesk is a customer service platform with AI agents across channels.

Prices, billing cycles and seat minimums differ across these plans

Plan prices are not like for like. Salesforce prices Pro Suite at $100 per user a month, billed annually, and Core at $195 per user a month, billed annually. Apollo prices its Organization plan at $119 per seat a month, billed annually, with a minimum of 3 seats. HubSpot requires a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500 on its Professional plan, and HighLevel's Starter plan is $97 a month with unlimited users.

RocketReach's Essentials plan is $49 a month, billed monthly. On the pages read, Zoho and Monday show Canadian dollars: Zoho's Standard plan is CA$25 per user a month, billed monthly, and Monday's Basic plan is CA$21 per seat a month, billed monthly, with a 3-seat minimum. ZoomInfo's plans are priced by quote.

Plan quotas are counted in credits, exports and lookups

The plans below state their quotas in different units, so the quotas do not line up. Read between Sep 26 and Oct 3, 2026, Zeliq's Starter plan lists 750 credits a month, Hunter's Starter plan 2,000 credits a month and Apollo's Basic plan 2,500 credits per seat a month. Lead411's Spark plan lists 1,000 exports a month and RocketReach's Essentials plan 100 lookups a month.

HubSpot's Starter plan includes 500 HubSpot Credits, which reset monthly with no rollover. Close's Solo plan includes 500 AI credits per user a month. A credit, an export and a lookup are different units, so these quotas cannot be added up or set against one another.

Questions

Before you choose

This page does not price custom builds, because it ranks tools and not the agencies that build software. The only prices it reads are the plan prices the vendors publish.

This page covers only the off-the-shelf side, with fourteen tools ranked on tagged reviews and published plans. It does not test custom builds or software development for small business, so it does not say when building one is worth it.

This page does not time custom projects, so business software development schedules fall outside what it reads. For the tools it ranks, it reads published plans, prices and trial terms.

This page does not read build contracts, so it holds nothing on who owns the code or the intellectual property after delivery. It reads the tools' published plans and tagged reviews only.

This page does not compare building in house with hiring an outside builder. It compares tools a company can buy, ranked on tagged reviews and published plans.

This page does not follow custom projects, so it does not say what makes one overrun its scope. Its evidence is the tagged reviews of the tools and the plans their vendors publish.
