LinkedIn Account Warm-Up SOP

4-phase ramp from zero automation to full operating volume without triggering a restriction event. Minimum 45 to 60 days. Not compressible.

Written for operators No vendor influence Practical, not theoretical

Before You Start

Prerequisites: 45 to 60 days, complete profile, 50+ connections

Output: A LinkedIn account that has cleared all 4 phase gates and is confirmed ready for active automation at full operating volume with a clean restriction history.

Critical constraint: The ramp timeline is not compressible. Moving phases faster than the schedule produces the restriction events this SOP is designed to prevent, resetting the timeline to zero.

Account age30+ days old before automation begins

First-degree connections50+ before any cold outreach
Automation platformExpandi or La Growth Machine (both include native gradual ramp-up)

🚨
Weekly ceiling: ~100 invites, applies from Day 1

Sending 20 manual invites per day for 5 days during Phase 1 already hits the weekly ceiling. The 5 to 10 invite cap is calculated to keep weekly totals below the threshold that flags new accounts for behavioral review.

The Steps

6-step warm-up execution: Days 1 to 61, phase by phase

Execute each phase in full before evaluating the gate. If any gate criterion is not met, extend the current phase by 7 days and re-evaluate. Do not proceed early.

  1. Complete the LinkedIn profile to a credible baseline before any outreach

Set a professional photo, a headline naming your role and company, an about section with at least two sentences, and current and prior work history. Connect manually with 50+ colleagues or warm contacts before sending any cold outreach.

  2. Run Phase 1 for 14 days: 5 to 10 manual invites and 10 to 20 manual messages per day, no automation

Do not connect the automation platform during Phase 1. Manual activity at these volumes builds the behavioral baseline LinkedIn's detection systems read as a normally active user. Gate at Day 14: zero restriction prompts, zero verification requests, 60+ total connections.

  3. Connect the automation platform on Day 15 with Phase 2 limits enforced before any campaigns run

Set the daily invite cap to 10 to 15 and the message cap to 20 to 40 before enabling anything else. Enable the platform's built-in warm-up feature: in Expandi, this is the profile auto warm-up with gradual ramp-up; in La Growth Machine, configure smart limits for the connected identity. Do not run active sequences during Phase 2.

  4. Run Phase 2 through Day 30, then check the acceptance rate before proceeding to Phase 3

Pull the acceptance rate from the platform's analytics or directly from LinkedIn at the end of Day 30. Gate: above 20% acceptance and zero restriction prompts. If below 20%, audit the connection note and ICP targeting before extending Phase 2 by 14 days.

  5. Update caps to Phase 3 on Day 31 and launch one limited sequence at your highest-acceptance ICP segment

Set caps to 15 to 20 invites and 40 to 80 messages per day. Run the daily operating checklist every morning: warm-up active, daily counts within Phase 3 limits, no restriction signals. Gate at Day 60: acceptance rate above 25%, clean 30-day restriction history.

  6. Confirm Phase 3 gate criteria on Day 61 and update caps to Phase 4 operating volume

Verify: acceptance rate above 25%, zero restriction prompts over 30 days, clean checklist readings for 2 weeks. Update caps to 20 to 30 invites and 80 to 100 messages. Switch to the daily operating checklist as the primary account management document from Day 61 forward.

⚠️
Gate failure: extend 7 days, do not bypass

A gate failure ignored at Phase 2 produces a restriction at Phase 3 that resets the account to Phase 1 conditions, often with a feature restriction that takes 1 to 2 weeks to lift. Extend and fix; never proceed early.

Common Failures

4 failure modes and how to recover without resetting to Phase 1

If
LinkedIn requests phone verification during Phase 1
Complete the verification, then stop all activity for 5 to 7 days. Restart Phase 1 at 3 to 5 invites per day.
If
Acceptance rate stays below 20% through Phase 2
Do not proceed to Phase 3. Rewrite the connection note, narrow the ICP filter, and extend Phase 2 by 14 days. This is a copy or targeting problem, not a warm-up problem.
If
Automation platform disconnects mid-warm-up
Reconnect in platform settings and resume at the same daily limits. Check the activity log to confirm what ran during the gap before resuming.
If
Phase 3 produces a LinkedIn feature restriction
Pause all automation immediately. After the restriction lifts (typically 1 to 2 weeks), restart Phase 3 from Phase 2 volume levels.

Stack Notes

Expandi vs La Growth Machine: native warm-up support compared

Both platforms support the 4-phase schedule natively. Connect either at the start of Phase 2, not before, and configure phase limits immediately on connection before any automated action runs.

After Phase 4: switch to the daily operating checklist

The warm-up SOP ends at Phase 4 entry. Without daily monitoring, a restriction event typically follows within 60 to 90 days as behavioral signals accumulate undetected.

Account warmed up. Now build the daily habit that keeps it safe.

The daily operating checklist covers the morning verification routine, mid-week pacing review, and the four restriction signals to act on before LinkedIn does.
